Bass players on this forum are valued because guitar players need them so much. And vice versa, of course. Here's a bass line for you all. It isn't me but I just came across it and thought that you might like to hear it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqtELR5GyfIHow many million years would it take and I still couldn't come up with that.
I had to hunt down the full song to make sense of this in context. It's a great bass part.
Thanks!
Sometimes I listen to bass arrangements played guitarists on their own songs, and I think, Well, a guitarist
would do that. There really is a different mindset when approaching a bass part, and listening to an isolated track can really make that point.
I just realized there are several
"isolated bass" videos on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=search_videos&search_query=isolated%20bass).
Here are a few, starting with my personal favorite:
John Entwhistle playing Won't Get Fooled Again:The Ox again playing Sparks:Geddy Lee playing Red Barchetta:Paul McCartney playing With a Little Help From My Friends:#Invalid YouTube Link#
Paul is doing a good Jarvis Cocker impersonation there.....

"Hysteria" by Muse is an example of the bass guitar being used as a lead instrument, as can be seen here
