Hi Chaps,
Just thought I'd share this... for my latest tune I video'd the writing process so you can get inside my head a little (don't spend too long there, it gets scary) & see how I typically put something together. It's about 30 minutes long, but the last chunk of it is simply a playback of the finished tune, which I'm going to post in the Original Songs board as soon as I've posted this.
Anyway... here it is. Hope you find it interesting:

I love how this song turned out John! It's was very interesting how you went about it. Not only does your guitars-man-ship shine on the finished song but so does your skilled creativity and knowledge of chord structures....a great video.
If I did one it would only be a couple of minutes of "ok D,C,G works for the verse....ok add Bm, A, G for the chorus....ummmm now what for the bridge ok F, C, G. ok I need to hum out a melody that fits those chords.....alright done...lol! That's why my songs sound like they do and yours sound like they do, lol!
Thanks for posting this excellent video!
Farrell
Cheers John, very interesting, I save all your vids, very educational, big thanks for taking the time to do them.
You're a star and a first-class guitarist.
Alex.
A really worth of watching! You've done so much work with this. I take my hat off!
That's a fine song John, and interesting to see your approach, a really good video. The final song sounds like a mixture of Zeppelin and Satriani - super guitar playing!!
Cheers
Mike
I'll watch this later properly - just dipped in and there seems to be a lot of haircare products on the shelf behind you :D

They belong to Mrs. Robbo... Even before my new look, the most my Barnet ever got was fairy liquid :)
Great video with cool insight into your writing technique. Incredible song by the way, stunning. I think much less when writing.
Rock on!
Very good. The stuff at the beginning about intervals and scales was like a foreign language to me though, lol. I think I could learn a lot from your vids. It's interesting how different people have different writing techniques. This is a bit more technical than my aimless strumming and noodling approach.
That's a nice guitar you have too.
