Title: Memory Lane by Rolow
Post by: Rolow on July 16, 2017, 10:02:24 PM
I wrote this lyric late one night back in April for a One Chord Festival.  The production came out very, very dark and I didn't like it.  I pulled it out again in June for Past Fest, a different production, but I still didn't like it.  I finally fell upon a production I like ok, so here it is, now with two chords.  I think it's about growing older.  Thanks for listening.

MEMORY LANE

I'm always going where I've already been
I live the same events again and again
Been there before, I won't cry or complain
Been there before, it's called Memory Lane

Don't know why this is happening to me
Seems what I am is all that I'll be
Good or bad, it's all the same
Just like everything on Memory Lane

This may be the last thing I ever do
Of the things I remember, the best is you
You might expect I'd remember the name
It's just one more thing on Memory Lane

This life is mine to live as I would
Don't know what I can, but I know what I should
All I can do is try to keep myself sane
Keepin' it straight on Memory Lane

Don't know how much more I can take
Don't wanna lie, don't wanna fake
Nothing to lose, not much to gain
Nothing is new on Memory Lane

I can't leave now, I can't run away
I know forever that I'll have to stay
So this is where I'll always remain
Walking the hard bricks of Memory Lane

This really works, nice lyrics and vox, the little guitar break, breaks it up well too, loved the listen.

Yeah, great feel to this... it has a great downbeat feel ooozing with emotion. Spot on with the production!

I like it - a lot! The music turned out quite bouncy, and that reminds me a bit of The Kinks in the combination of lighter music and darker lyrics. The production sounds perfect, to my ears.

Superb.

That's also the vibe I got from this. Very nice recording and lyric.

Great song, well executed and recorded. It was a toe tapper. Two chords is challenging enough and you have done it well without it being too repetitive.

Yeah, dark but damn catchy with it.

Great tune.

Nice arrangement and vocal on this beauty.

I like the darker undertone.
