I was watching a TV programme about someone swimming the channel... and then I started wondering if anyone has swam from ireland to scotland or vice verse...
found this good story...

Cool story, Mike!
Good find Mike, interesting...
Alex
great read.
Wow that was a great story.
That was some tough dude.
Real Boy's Own stuff. Fascinating.
Great story, and most of all I really dug the authors unashamed use of excessive hyperbole.
Nonetheless, what a bloody acheivement! It would have been as cold as the end of an eskimo's tool out there, no wonder hardly anyone has ever attampted it.
I particularly liked the line about the poor Greek swimmer who had a crack at it, "Jason Zirganos, died after an unsuccessful try in 1959 despite the efforts of a doctor who cut him open with a borrowed penknife to massage his heart".
