I'm a big fan of a YouTube channel called SMG (Spectre Media Group). Basically it's run by a studio owner from Canada called Glenn Fricker. A lot of the info on there about recording methods is quite advanced but there are still plenty of good tips... and boy is he funny to listen to! Check out some of the "Stupid Musician Texts" videos for example.
Anyway, he recommended a service called Distrokid for getting your music sold. Basically it's $20 a year to upload unlimited tracks. They then get your music on all of the online retailers (iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, and a bunch of other smaller outlets). You keep 100% of your royalties and they will even get you a licence to release cover versions if you need it.
When you upload your music they check it for quality (bit rate etc.) to ensure it is compatible with the retailers they deal with. I've just collated a bunch of my recent recordings into an album that I'm releasing via them... I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
Well, it's WORKED!!! Less than 24 hours after I uploaded the tracks they're now available on Google Play. iTunes & the others can apparently take a little longer, but this is a good start. In case anyone's interested, here's the link:

If anyone is looking to release their own music, this Distrokid service looks like the way to do it :)
That is cool, I checked the link. It's quite the finishing touch, and seems like a great deal for what you get.
That is cool, thanks for sharing and keep us updated. I'd it hooked up through pay pal?
Well done John,
Really good for the money...
Alex
Great work John. I hope it earns you something. Your recordings are first rate.

No, mate... they use the card you pay your signing on fee with.
Less than 24 hours after it went live, someone's bought it already! Woo Hoo!!!
