First of all, I'd like to say a big "thank you" for all the messages of support I've had via PM & email from everyone here... things have been tough lately, but Jackie's health is steadily getting better & I'm quietly hopeful about a couple of jobs I've applied for... I'm still plugging away with applications (70+ in the last week or so), so hopefully we'll have some money coming in again soon.

I'm glad to hear your wife is getting better and something will come up for you brother!
Very interesting blog posts. Out of curiosity & knowing very little about electric guitars, why is his current squire not gigable?
I also really enjoyed the riff/timing post. I've done similar techniques with vocals vs progression. Cool stuff.

The Squier Bullet Strat is an OK guitar for beginners, but the tuning pegs aren't great - very "lumpy" feeling & don't hold tuning particularly well. Also, the fret ends, sticking out of the side of the neck, are quite sharp. The guitar has quite a high action too, and the pickups are very shrill sounding. All of these things could be fixed, but new tuners, a fret dress, a set up, and new pickups would cost more than just buying a better guitar.
I can certainly understand the tuners, that was the biggest issue with the no name strat I just sold. I'm surprised about the frets, I've never noticed that on any cheap guitars I've owned in the past, very interesting.
