Hello chaps,
I was wondering if anybody could help me track down a copy of an old Graham Parker album from (I think) 1982. It's called "Another Grey Area". I need it to be in a digital format (mp3/flac/aac) as I don't even have a CD player these days & haven't owned anything to play vinyl on in decades.
All of the usual download sites drew a blank, pretty much his whole back catalogue seems to be available apart from this one album that I want - any ideas chaps?
Cheers,
John.
It's on amazon.com for $10.99 in mp3 format.

However, amazon.co.uk only seems to have the CD and Vinyl versions.
It's also available from iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/another-grey-area/id668833257) and the Microsoft Store (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/music/album/graham-parker/another-grey-area/8d6kgx7l551g), though I'm not a fan of either of those.

Surely you have a computer with a CD or DVD drive? If so, you can rip the CD to flac, mp3, wav or whatever yourself. It's quite easy to do. In Linux, for example, you can use the program Sound Juicer (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/turn-cd-tracks-into-mp3s-with-sound-juicer-linux/). Of course, there are lots of other CD Rippers (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD_ripper) available for all operating systems.
The nice thing about having the CD is that you can always rip it again if you need it in another format or you accidentally erased your first rip. Sure beats having to pay for another download.
Once again, 64Guitars to the rescue! I never thought about checking Amazon.com... you're right, the UK Amazon site only has it on CD & vinyl & as I don't have an optical drive on my PC, I can't rip from CD. I don't have iTunes installed any more as it was glitchy & kept causing my PC to keep freezing and it never occurred to me to look on Microsoft - I didn't know they sold music.
My usual sources for downloads are Amazon.co.uk & GoldenMP3 and I can usually get everything I need from these places. I'll know where to look in future if I get stumped again. Thanks so much!
... and now I have it! ;D

They're quite inexpensive nowadays. You can get an internal DVD writer (reads/writes CDs too, of course) for £15.00, or an external USB DVD writer for £25.00.

I know that they're not as common today as they once were and many new PCs don't come with an optical drive. But at those prices, it's nice to have one. They're great for watching movies, listening to music CDs, or ripping your CDs and DVDs. Also great when a computer dies and you want to boot it from a Linux DVD so you can access the hard drives to rescue your data. The external one is especially handy since you can plug it into any computer that has a USB port.
You can get external USB floppy drives too. Why would anybody want a floppy drive nowadays, I hear you ask. Well, my Yamaha PSR-2100 keyboard has a floppy drive for storing MIDI files and I needed a convenient way to transfer MIDI files between the keyboard and my computer. My current desktop computer didn't come with a floppy drive. I considered installing an internal floppy drive (inexpensive and easy to install) but I decided on the external USB drive instead because I won't have this computer forever and installing a floppy drive in my next computer might not be easy. But with USB, I'll hopefully be able to use this same drive on any future computers I get for quite some time and I don't have to install anything.
I have always loved this song - one of my all time favourite tunes - must cover it. If fact I'd love to hear Blooby and Lurker cover this one :) :) :)
