It's time to vote for our next two festivals which will run from September 1 to October 31. Voting starts now and runs for 5 days. You can change your vote any time until the closing of the poll on August 29th. To do so, click "Remove vote" to cancel your previous vote, then vote again.
This poll is for the "Artists/Covers" festival. There is a separate poll for the "Theme/Genre" festival here:

Please vote in both polls.
Beatles Challenge Fest - It's been two years since our last BeatlesFest. This one will be a bit different. The challenge is to complete some more Beatles albums. So this time we'll only allow Beatles songs which have not yet been covered in the past two BeatlesFests. And solo works won't be allowed this time -- only Beatles songs from their studio albums.
Here's a list from 2012 of the songs that haven't been done yet:

When I get time, I'll check that list to see if any of them have been done since 2012 (maybe one or two?).
Fifties Rock & Roll fest - Covers of songs from the 1950s.
TV theme songs - Covers of theme songs from TV shows. Any era, including the present.
Yardbirds Fest - Covers of songs by The Yardbirds.
QueenFest - Covers of songs by Queen.
MusicYouHateFest - Cover a song that you hate.
anything on rough trade records label - Cover any song released on Rough Trade Records (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rough_Trade_Records).
anything from john peel sessions - Cover any song that was featured in the Peel Sessions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Peel_Sessions).
I guess it's no problem guessing what I voted ;D
( now I've just copied this message from the other poll ;D ;D )
The 'Peel Sessions' is a great idea, so much to choose from!
I haven't even finished reading the sessions list yet!
:)

Hear, hear..and same here!
I'm hoping its John Peel Sessions too! So much choice.
Likewise. John Peel was my father, in some ways.
Vote for The Peel Sessions ! You know it makes sense.
Here's a link to the A-Z of bands from which you can find the dates of their sessions and their tracklists:

Ehhh...
cool link though Pete, thanks.
Fest on!
Great link, so much to choose from ....
Great link Pete.
I think in some respects the sheer vastness of this library could be a problem. Within Pete's link, there's an area with the top 125 sessions (voted by friends and family).
Peel Sessions Top 125 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/sessions/top125/)
Even within this list there's Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, as well as Pulp, The Fall [The Fall alone have 27 sessions to chose from], Sleeper, and the usual mix of Napalm Death etc. And, of course, many others.
I think this will turn out be a terrific festival, should it win, due to the shear variety of choice.
I see the brits are quite excited about the way this vote is going ;)
Can't say I knew much about this peel guy before this ..... there is obviously a lot to choose from though
John Peel was a very interesting guy, his autobiography is a great read, he was putting it together before he suddenly died, a little while later his wife finished the book, I might just read it again!
Peel worked on radio one, he was the only DJ (IMHO) that kept the station credible, I'm sure if he were still alive he would be at BBC6music now (Im pretty sure he didn't work at 6music anyway?). Mark Riley almost seems to be the new Peel in a way!
The top 125 list is cool too!
Does anyone think we could do something with the Festive Fifty this year?
Well its the 30th August now in UK - what's the winner ?

The September/October 2014 festivals are:
John Peel Sessions
- Cover any song that was featured in the Peel Sessions.
and
WarSongFest
- War songs, anti-war songs.
Just a question, but are covers of songs included in John Peel's Festive 50's allowed?
I am guessing not as they are separate from the Peel Sessions
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festive_Fifty
they would only be allowed if the song had also been recorded in a peel session. for example joy division recorded love will tear us apart for a peel session but the song also featured in john peel's festive 50.
Cheers for clarifying Jim
Maybe we could do a songcrafters festive fifty??
I havent thought it through at all just putting it out there!
