Title: He's More Your Dog Than Mine (Friscic-McIntyre)
Post by: Michael McIntyre on May 23, 2014, 08:31:04 AM
Demo produced by Galen Breen; vocal by Buddy Jewell.

Lyrics:

When we said our I do's
he was there under the pews
watching us and wagging his tail
That was just four years ago
but that's long enough to know
Even though we tried, our marriage has failed

He's more your dog than mine
'Cos the two of you have formed a closer bond
He's more your dog than mine
Will I lose a friend I used to lean on?

He was my dog before we met
and I've come to regret
how for both of you I've been absentee
Now it's time to settle up
and though I've had him from a pup
I know in my heart he loves you more than me

He's more your dog than mine
'Cos the two of you have formed a closer bond
He's more your dog than mine
Will I lose a friend I used to lean on?

So your car is almost packed
with just a little room in back
as you wait for me to give you a sign
For me to keep him would be a crime
but let me hold him one last time
I know he is yours more than he is mine

He's more your dog than mine
'Cos the two of you have formed a closer bond
He's more your dog than mine
And I've lost a friend I used to lean on

You had me completely in the story from the start. The story reminds me slightly of The Reverend Horton Heat's "Where in the hell did you go with my toothbrush" with his line about his dog Smokey.   A good listen, easy on the ears.
