Title: "Does It Ever Make Sense" a Hook original

So I'm using my Mandolin for work this week & since I put new strings on it I thought I better write something with it. I wrote the mandolin parts & lyrics this afternoon & recorded it in Nissan Sentra Studios just did the drums tonight at home with my new Yamaha YDD-60 drum kit.

4- mandolin tracks (1 clean & 3 with different effects)
1- vocal (stereo)
1- drum (stereo)

Does It Ever Make Sense
written & performed by Hook
Is it ever truly cut & dry
Is reality what meets the eye
Or does it shift & then become
Something less than it once was

Does it ever make sense?
Occasionally you have to pick
one side of the fence

Is it ever truly black & white?
Is all I see all that exists within my sight?
Does it change shape just like the clouds
Is it me or is the silence way to loud

Does it ever make sense?
I can imagine peace
But all I've known is tense

Accept without question
Relent without compromise
Permit with no justification
Dishonesty without lies

Is it ever truly here or there?
Is distance relative to time or is space everywhere
Is a moment fleeting, can a second last
Can we stop the future from reliving the past

Does it ever make sense?
To those of us denied opulence

Love the folky sound of the mando coupled with that superb percussion. This is really, really good stuff. A jig for the modern world. Fine work!

wow that mandolin sounds fab, after having a go on geir's i want one, and the drums are great too. brawtastic.

Really dig those intricate mandolin parts - you certainly know how to work them! And a neat trick keeping something so complex still sounding clean and spare.

Cool tune bro. Almosts sounds like an old English madrigal - particularly the combination of the mando and the beat.

There's much good existentialist philosophy here, Mr H, and a lot of food for thought.  But there's also a brilliant song arrangement and composition.

I've really enjoyed listening.

Great song. The mandolin sounds nice. I love the drumming.
