Hofner Verithin & Precision Bass, plus some Thumbjammery. All MBR.
An important feature of this song was trying to shoehorn the Big Ben chimes into the melody with a Thumbjam dulcimer. Not quite as easy as you'd think!
p.s. I love the 70's Wings song of the same name, but this is nothing like that :D
Brilliant Brit pop tune, again... Wanna get in London, now!! :)

braw tell yer maw.
You always seem to squeeze so much into your songs, its hard to believe that this one clocks in at just over 3 minutes, it seemed to last much longer.
I have given this three listens now and its a superb piece of work, those chimes fit in seemlessly but can appreciate how difficult that must have been. Nice touch kicking off with the chorus too, and there is such a nice contrast and flow between verses and choruses.
Loving them lyrics too reflecting the drudgery of the commuting and working life

Thanks! I'm trying to emulate the way Burt Baccarach & Hal David go straight in with the chorus (and often song title) on a lot of their work... Raindrops keep falling on my head, Do you know the way to San Jose, What the world needs now etc etc. Straight in, no messing!
HOW DO YOU DO IT ??? ???
Yet another Greeny masterpiece.
I'll be humming this all day !

It's something the Beatles did quite a bit too. A good recipe for a hit ..... if you've got a strong chorus .....
Splendid stuff!
I'm with Geir on this one.
This one has a great swagger about it, great song.
Lovely lush recording, really strong sounds.

So colourful and tasty. A real feast for the ears!
I agree this is nothing like the Wings song, but it has something of a McCartney feel to it.
Which is a good thing.

My thoughts exactly, excellent tune!
Rock on!
Love the well-crafted melody and chord changes. Lots of really nice guitar work here too. Has got Greeny all over it!
A real Fab song and up there with the best Tim! Keep putting them out just like this. Starting with the chorus works very well. It got my attention right off the bat. Nice work!

An all around top notch million dollar song as always. Those rhythm guitars are it for me. Very beautiful playing.
Yes not easy doing the TJ sometimes. I curse real bad with it sometimes but i always do at recording time.
Awesome song!
I love the idea of mixing up the song structures.
This one seems to have worked perfectly here.
I too loved the lyrical depiction of the drudgery of the commuting and working life.
So, that bell was a pain in the ass to get right, huh? Nicely done.
Another brilliant creation, with that MR. Green swing to it.
Absolutly blinding....your the governor Mr. Green....
This is an excellent track, great mix too. The vocals and harmonies are as good as it gets and oh yes love the guitar
work.
Well done Graham
Really great melody , well structured & perfectly executed , well done Tim
I'm getting to this one late... ::) And it's another Greeny goody, no matter what the day. :) I dig the Big Ben chimes you added with TJ dulcimer - nice touch!.
Woah...this is good!!!!
Such a polished and professional sound, that it is hard to believe that it is recorded on a small multi-track recorder.
Those guitars are so lush sounding, and the whole song just oozes quality and class.
Really well done, this was a great listen.
Wonderful stuff.
What a great song. I love the catchy chorus with its rich vocal harmonies. Some really nice guitar ideas too. Brilliant.
Well done greeny,a well structured, well performed song,Always love that sound you get from the guitars.
One from The Random Dozen,
Brilliant Tim, missed this one first time around.....
