Title: "The hare who had been married" a Geir & Jarle original
Post by: Geir on August 06, 2012, 05:48:14 PM
This is the first song featuring my new mando and Jarles new Roland drum-kit. It's based on a Norwegian fairy tale "Haren som hadde vært gift". A translation can be found here:
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~norway/Hare.htm

Jarle reads the tale during the intro of the song.

cheers

"The hare who had been married"
w/m: Geir&Jarle (words based on a Norwegian fairy tale)

Geir: Ibanez M510E-BS Mandolin, Ibanez GSR200 Bass,
Morgan acoustic guitar, hare vocals
Jarle: Roland TD4KX drums, fox vocals and intro storytelling
Hooray, hooray and tally-ho
I am a happy hare
Hooray, hooray and tally-ho
I'm jumping full of joy

Hello good fox, I'm overjoyed
'cause I've been married, you should know
Now that's a good thing, In fact it's jolly good

Oh, not so jolly, she was a troll
her horns were marked with many cuts
I'm so sorry to hear, that's so horrible lad

Oh it wasn't all bad, not bad at all
she brought a good dowry, a log house in the woods
Now that's a good thing, In fact it's jolly good

Oh not so jolly, the log house cought fir
it burned to the ground, nothing was left
I'm so sorry to hear, that's so horrible lad

Oh it wasn't all bad, not bad at all
'cause when it burned down the wife burned as well
.....

Hooray, hooray and tally-ho
I am a happy hare
Hooray, hooray and tally-ho
my wife went up in flames

Hooray, hooray and tally-ho
I am a happy hare
Hooray, hooray and tally-ho
I'm jumping full of joy

Hooray, hooray and tally-ho
my wife went up in flames

Love it! The mandolin sounds fantastic. So do the drums. Well done, both of you.

Geir
This sounds wonderful.

The drum is sweet and the mando is really crisp.

And the vocals... too much fun.

Viking Brothers eh? Cool

I couldn't agree more!!

A wickedly awesome recording, with some great playing and singing. You both have similar vocals which really makes the song blend well.

I've listened to this three times while typing this, love that intro!! And that bass line is awesome! Sounds killer!

What else can I say, I absolutely love it!!

Wow guys... the story is brilliant and funny (Which I Love)... Jarle has taken to the Electro Kit quite well. I still think he should break out the buckets whenever possible. Definately some killer playing and singing on both parts. Love it guys!!!

I just spent ages looking for this! (And then realised, go to your profile and look at "Last song posts"... duh!)

I noticed it weeks ago at work. But I put off listening to it at home while I was working on Cobwebs.

Anyway, it was well worth the hunting. Knew it would be :)

Love it. Excellent job chaps :)
