We're going to have to work out the whole picture thing, there's only Mark and I.

This isn't my basement, though it looks close. We were shopping for an acceptable bass amp so we could rock the neighborhood. Unfortunately I asked Mark to plug into a Markbass. I've added a 300W Jeff Berlin model to the fold.

More to come, including music!

It's incredible, Mark travelled 1000 miles to get to you Tony, I think Geir probably only did 600 miles to get to my house and he lives in Scandanavia. James travelled 300 and he lives in Scotland. Tharek probably did the least at under 200. We Brits just don't get distance at all.

You're missing two important elements re: recording and posting - Geir who is a mixing man-machine and Mr Higgins who's inner puppy has to tell eveyone everything as it's happening all the time.

Great video, vodka always makes me look better, and sing better and play better....

And that was off a single SM57 or just the drums of a single SM57?

I think Mark probably travelled at the same speed as my average tho ... And I flew most of the distance !!! ;)

Quote from: Flash Harry on July 03, 2011, 04:43:05 AMAnd that was off a single SM57 or just the drums of a single SM57?

Quickly mono mixed with on mic on the drums and three more channels of bass, guitar and vox. Came out pretty good for three people that had no idea what they were going to play.

Hope to work on some more music today!

Mark

I blame the guitar work on Mark. He taught me the song then cleaned up all my mistakes. It took quite a few takes for me to lay a passable track, then he performed what I consider to be magic.

His patience is astounding, and besides an unhealthy case of stinky feet and a Paul Ruben count in.... He's awesome to have around.

Great Vodka acoustic jam Mark..where`s the whole song? Damn i should of been there to help you with that light problem. I woulda brought you a lightbulb which was truly invented by a Canadian but of course that American Thomas Edison guy just buys the patent and claims he did.

Happy Independance Day!!

Sweet vid guys.

You know "Vodka" is a personal fav of mine for sure. That version is a little too short though  :(.

"St. Joe" sounds really good for a "quick" jam. Tony - you've got the riff down, and a great guitar sound man.
You guys should find an open-mic night while you're together. That would be pretty cool.

Keep it up boys.
Glad to hear you're having fun.
That's what it's all about (well - until your mortgage depends on it that is  ;D).
Title: Re: MET US
Post by: Tony W on July 04, 2011, 07:45:03 PM
Mark's pushing me like a slave driver.... He's got the unfortunate job of teaching me to play the songs we're doing. The jam wasn't so quick, but the mix was. I practiced the guitar work on St Joe probably 80 takes before I got it right. Mark's been a great sport so far, his patience has been astounding.

The guitar was my Les Paul and the amp was My line 6 Spider Jam (75w)
The bass was my Ibanez SR300 with the new Markbass (fitting name brand with Mark on it)

What I didn't know is that Matt has never played with a band, so there were 2 rookies in our little threesome! That's pretty cool. Matt was quite a bit more solid than I was.

Right now we're zeroing in on an original, and hopefully we'll get at least one or 2 more covers done.

My buddy Rick came over tonight, he's a guitarist and a much better one than me. Mark's obviously a better bass player than I am, so I figured what the hell, I'll give the kit a whirl. They are Kim's drums, so I don't jump on them. I've played maybe a total of 10 minutes worth of drums in my life until tonight. All I wanted to do was try to keep a beat going, nothing fancy at all. I didn't quite accomplish that.

Watch the wingnut on the hi hat towards the end of the video..... priceless

are you posting from your phone? While riding a motorcycle? That's a bit of excess multi-tasking. both hands on the handle bars, and stay ahead of the storm!

On a real note, Mark will be sorely missed. We spent a fantastic week together. We made some great music, We made some horrible noises. We found out what the others farts smelled like after eating the same food. Caught some fish and ate them. Obviously we drove around on the polaris a bit. It's a week of my life I will cherish for the remainder. I suppose we could have done more, but I think we achieved just enough.

I'll miss you my friend.

We'll all have to meet up in the form of an Atlantic cruise next time!

I don't text and drive Tony - Have to fuel up and take a break every 150 miles or so.

It's 90 out and I'm burnt to a crisp but right where I want to be! And yes, the rain is next but I look forward to it...

I didn't really catch wind of the the MET US event until it was nearly done. Late to the party as usual.

Quote from: Tony W on July 06, 2011, 11:57:02 AM2 beautiful girls (no cup) dressed me up like a christmas tree, then prodded me all damn night,

Given Mr. W's penchant for scatology, I'm really surprised that that comment didn't spawn an entire filthy thread. Perhaps Songcrafters have more taste and restraint that I give them credit for. (Or maybe it flew over the right heads.)

If you ever need a wingnut, we've got plenty of them in Arizona.

Instead of telling you what the reference is, go to YouTube and search for "Two girls one cup reactions."

I would rather leave it there for now.

I think the damage is done.  Curiosity can be a horrible thing.

Although this video is 100% clean, it wouldn't surprise me if an administrator takes it down.  It can only lead to long-term emotional scarring.

Sleep tight.

Back in the day, well before the days of DVDs and the intrawebthingy, where I worked there was an annual event called Eurovision.
All the European countries - and I mean European, not Eurasian or Russian or anywhere outside of the comfortable Common Market except perhaps for 'Null Points' Norway and 'La Swede' got together to compare and compete musically, loosely - musically.
Part of the pre-show activity was to 'line up the satelite' which meant making sure that the feed out from your station and the feed into your station was acceptable. Hours of time was allocated for this tricky and artfull process. Tricky and artfull - It's all right leaving me - A well known phrase in broadcasting parlance - not much in evidence in this case, as countries scrabbled to get their line-up completed in record time just so the Swedes could spend as much time 'Lining-up' their transmissions with such trailers as 'Helga and her sisters', 'Bjorn and the boys stumble upon Helga and her sisters' etc. 6 hours of top class Swedish grumble and every video recorder in the building doing the business.

It was fun and pretty harmless.

Not so with this flick. See granny's face? Even in the days before telly, this entertainment was not common.

I really really let it slide.

I was introduced to this .. err... concept a few years ago, just watching the reactions of those watching the film was enough to put me off.

Tony, your puppy is sick. That's why it's pissing....

I saw Grandma's reaction a few of years ago--when this meme was at its peak.

I resolved not to investigate any further. I mean, I've read the description, so I know what they're seeing. But I've refused to indulge.

Somehow, though, I know it's just a matter of time.
