For my wife of 31 years. My one and only love!
Thanks to Mr. Marc Halikas for the bass track.
Ellen, remember the first time
I looked into your eyes
Quickly a fire in my
lonely heart came alive
Could you not sense it by the way I was trembling?
My soul reached a new high when I saw you smile
Felt like a new beginning.
Your vibrant love was what
My heart was yearning.
This lonesome dreamer came alive
To the beauty that only your lovelyness
brings to my life.
My only love
Sent to me from the Heavens above
And when I see you smile
Suddenly I feel a joy that is so real
Easing all the pain
Cooling like spring rain

Beautiful.
I was quite worried listening to the first half that I wasn't going to like the vocal when it arrived - I was enjoying the piece so much... Needn't have worried! Vocal fits the piece and the lyric perfectly.
Hope she likes it :)
This opens so beautifully and then it just soars !!!
And yeah the vocals do fit perfectly !!
WOW WOW WOW !!!!
Great song !!
Beautiful John. Love it. It has your trade mark keyboard sounds and a precision I can never emulate only admire. Took a long time for the vocal to appear and I was thoroughly enjoying the sounds when - wow your vox popped in right on cue. Nicely done my friend.
Leigh
Meant to add I love love the bass.

Her HS grad pic. 1977. It's that smile that this song is about!

The long intro is great, and it really hightens the anticipation for the arrival of the vocal. its really is such a brilliant piece of work, put together and performed fantastically well.
A lot of hard work and long hours must have gone into this, the attention to detail is outstanding.
The extended intro is so wistful and beautiful. There are some lovely melodies weaving in and out as it gradually builds towards the vocal. And man, what a vocal! This sounds like a classic 70's love song. It's an incredible and wonderfully crafted piece of work. WOW.
A lovely song John, beautifully composed and arranged. It sounds great and it obviously was a "labour of love". I really like the long intro and the way it builds, that works very well. Great job!
Cheers,
Nigel

playing catch up, really enjoyed this one the music is cinematic could imagine this playing out at the end titles of a romantic movie. like andyr i was wondering when the vocals where going to arrive but when they did they lifted the song further, remindeds me of christopher cross.
i hope the good lady enjoyed it . and in your pic you look remarkably like roger powel the keyboard player from todd rundgrens utopia, you have his looks and talent.
Thanks so much for listening, ORH!

This is a pretty ballad and a wonderful demonstration of love. Nice piano playing and lead vocal. Reminds me of Dan Fogelberg.
Regards,
Steffen
Thanks! Dan Fogelberg is a MAJOR influence on me and was one of my songwriting idols!
