Sad but true story for many people.
What an amazing sounding track.
The  vocal sound is crystal clear and as usual the instrumentation is outstanding.
Brilliant composition.

Very pink floyd to me.
Yeh I'm afraid I'm on the same idea about climate change but I could be wrong .
I suppose you should follow the science but throughout history that's not been a great source either.
Superb composition.
Love it.

Very competent composition and top production. The verse has a Peter Gabriel vibe to my ears. Seems we all are a bunch of sceptics!

Truly inventive Ray! Barnstormer mate! I love all the moods and swings and I love the line "Checking on his chicks to see they're turning tricks"! Great stuff bro.

Original Songs / The Barricades Between (A ball...
Last post by Ron D Bowes - Today at 06:20:30 AM
I'd had an emotionally draining week when I wrote this. So, for a change, sad ballad for your consideration.

Lindo acoustic guitar direct line. Custom Telecaster through the Marshall MG10. Benson Musicman bass direct line - through Vandal amp plug in (and Swirl on bridge section) Delay pedal plug in for the lead.

"The Barracades Between"

Have I said something wrong again?
Did I give you pain?
It wasn't meant
Sometimes I cannot find the words to say
I couldn't find a way
In my defence
If I could tear my tongue right out my head
Undo what I have said
And make it right
But nothing that I ever say or do
Will get through to you
We always fight

Why can't we burn them down?
The barricades between
Why can't we start again?
Why can't we live the dream?

Have I done something to hurt you so?
A painful body blow
That makes you sad
So it seems that I am in the wrong again
Am I the one to blame for all that's bad?
If I could try to swallow up my pride
Just keep it deep inside
And learn to cope
All that I know is that I can't live
If you can't give a ray of hope

Why can't we burn them down?
The barricades between
Why can't we start again?
Why can't we live the dream?

So here I am, a very lonely man
I've done the best I can
Not good enough
I have no shoulder on which I can cry
To try and help me by When times get tough
Why couldn't we just burn the barricades?
We were too much afraid
We couldn't see
But there is nothing left that I can say to bring back yesterday
So now you're free

Welcome to Songcrafters.

Catchy tune. The vocal melody is infectious against that driving beat. Some low end should glue it together more as you finish it. My tinnitus makes it difficult to discern lyrics so feel free to post them. Question: was the guitar doubled or had chorus on it by any chance?

Just so you know, Songcrafters is an oasis amid a world of negativity. It is a special place. To get more feedback on your posts, make sure to co.ment on the work of others. The unwritten rule is 10:1 (comments on other work vs. your posts).  There is a crazy amount of talent here with a heck of a lot of variety.

Enjoy!

Cover Songs / Gare au Gorille! (Beware the G...
Last post by Jean Pierre - Yesterday at 11:19:59 PM
A song with two chords is only as good as its lyrics...and this 1952 song by Georges Brassens with two chords D and A is particularly "crisp"...it was banned from radio in France because Brassens was denouncing the death penalty, which had not yet been abolished in France in 1952...

Here is the translation

BEWARE THE GORILLA!!!

Through wide gates
That the females of the canton
Behold a mighty gorilla
Without a care in the world
With impudence, these gossips
Even leered at a precise spot
Which, strictly speaking, my mother
forbade me to name here
Watch out for the gorilla!

All of a sudden the prison
Where the beautiful animal lived
Opened, for some reason, I suppose
It must have been locked wrong
The monkey, getting out of his cage
Said "I'm losing him today!
He was talking about his virginity
I hope you guessed it!
Watch out for the gorilla!

The boss of the menagerie
Shouted, distraught, "Holy mackerel!
It's boring, because the gorilla
Has never known a monkey!"
As soon as the females
Knew that the ape was a virgin
Instead of taking advantage of the chance
She fired both guns!
Watch out  the gorilla!

The same women who once
Were watching him with a determined eye
Fled, proving that they had little
That they had little follow-through
All the more vain was their fear
That the gorilla is a luron
Superior to man in the embrace
Many a woman will tell you!
Watch out the gorilla!

Everybody rushes
Out of reach of the rutting monkey
Except a decrepit old woman
And a young wooden judge
Seeing that they all shrank back
The quadruman accelerated
His waddle towards the robes
Of the old woman and the magistrate!
Beware the gorilla!

"Bah! sighed the centenarian
That I should still be desired
That would be extraordinary
And, to say the least, unhoped for!"
The judge thought impassively
"That I should be taken for a monkey
It's completely impossible".
What followed proved him wrong!
Beware the gorilla!

Suppose that one of you could be
Like the ape, forced to
Violate a judge or an ancestress
Which would he choose?
That such a choice
One of these four days, befall me
It is, I am convinced, the old woman
Who will be the object of my choice!
Beware the gorilla!

But, by misfortune, if the gorilla
Is worth his price in the games of love
We know that on the other hand he shines
Neither in taste nor in wit
So instead of opting for the old lady
As anyone would have done
He grabbed the judge by the ear
And dragged him off into the bush!
Beware the gorilla!

The rest would be delectable
Unfortunately, I can't
I can't say, and that's a shame
It would have made us laugh a little
For the judge, at the supreme moment
Shouted "Mama!", cried a lot
Like the man whose neck
He had his neck cut off
Beware of the gorilla!

Hi, I am a newbie, just posted my first post with links to Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube, and I received an error message that I needed to include an .mp3 link, is that correct? Can't see it in the rules, but I added a link in the meantime
