White girl in white
Beautiful in her wedding dress
White girl in white
Hair makeup; looking her best
He never did show that day
She didn't know he'd run away
White girl in white
Left waiting in the chapel.

They tried to comfort her
Till the taxi came to get her
Arms around her; words of wisdom
To make her feel better
Girl in tears in sorrow in grief
All the guests shake their heads in disbelief
White girl in white
Left waiting in the chapel.

Meanwhile in a smokey grungy bar
Somewhere north of the border
He sits with his comforting beer
Staring at the ring he bought her.
Without a sign or a word from his mouth
Jumps in his car and heads down south
To the white girl in white
He left waiting at the chapel.

You did it again Ray! I don't how you keep coming up with these great songs but you do. The guitar work, lyrics and vocals are all excellent!

Sounds like the young man had cold feet and needed to get some confidence at the bar.  Interesting story song.  Great guitar work.

By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn't want your daughter to associate with.

OK to cover but please let me know first.  Thanks!

Back for a second listen and to comment... Super nice backing track on this. Lyrics sound like a movie storyline. My favorite line: "He sits with his comforting beer", uh no, I mean "Jumps in his car and heads down south to the white girl in white". Hollywood ending!

The song begins with acoustic guitar playing that would make Gordon Giltrap reach for his notes. The way the mood is built with layered instrumentation and carefully crafted melodies makes for a great listen.

I always approach Rays songs with a certain uncertainty because i've already run out of superlatives and i don't feel it would be appropriate to talk about Crocodile Dundee in this context.

5/5.

Brilliant Ray, another masterful song. The lyrics are so good in your songs. The music is relaxing, the acoustic guitars sound beautiful and all the music is perfectly played and produced.
You have such a great distinctive voice. Lovely piano too.
