Just a little heads up.

The journey has started for our British friends. James has teamed up with Mike and should soon be heading for London where Tharek joins them.

The cabin is ready, stringed instruments wit a total of 79 strings are tuned and ready. Reindeer have been killed to make sure they'll get the energy needed. AND I am writing this from my cabin  :D :D !!!!!

We will keep you posted !

Careful Tharek. I suspect that one of those James's is an impostor! He's really Flash Harry posing as a James. The real James is the one who falls down a lot. The impostor is rumoured to be flatulent.

Which instrument has an odd number of strings? A banjo, perhaps? Or maybe a shamisen?

Are you cooking a big pot of reindeer stew? Mmmmm, good!

I hope you have plenty of Akavit ready for Jim and Tharek. I know they both like the occasional tot, not sure about Sir Harry....

Reindeer and Cloudberries is a good combination. I once went on a business trip where someone was incredibly ill after that combination. Or perhaps it was the Akavit....

Have fun!!

Cheers,

Nigel

Two questions:

1) It's been mentioned that you're using Mike's RØDE NT1-A condenser mic. Did you bring anything else with you (instruments, for example) or are you all using Geir's gear?

2) Speaking of "Geir's gear", how do you pronounce your name, Geir? I always assumed it was pronounced either like "Gare" (as in Gary) or "Jare" (as in Jerry), but James pronounces it like "Gear" in the songs and Mike said something about "Guy-ear". Maybe you could post a short mp3 here in which you speak your name?

Inquiring minds want to know.

we all brought our mbrs amd mike brought his mike everything else is geirs. pronounced guy- er. i think i pronounce it correctly in norwegian version of stagefright.

i still call him geer but every time mike and tharek slap me i correct myself, eventually i will get it right.
by the way geir's middle name (which i will never be able to pronounce) translates into english as spear of victory.

I'm going to embarrass myself the day I meet Tharek, I know how to pronounce it, but since he can't hear me, I pronounce it wrong. Even the voice in my head when I read his name pronounces it wrong.

Well, we have 30 minutes remaining before we leave this lovely hut of Geirs and head to the airport. It has been such a fantastic time, we have all enjoyed ourselves hugely, it will be quite sad to leave.

Personally, it has been a real journey for me. Geir refused to drive me to the airport unless I sang, and I reckon that a member (or at least three members) of the drunken louts singing on the Pirate Fest song counts as me singing.

You have to check out Geirs earth closet. Poo has been a major feature of the visit. Tharek has some interesting takes on the finer points of personal space and coca cola bottles.

I'll be sad to leave. So thanks to Geir for being an excellent host, a great collaborator, Tharek for inspiration and James for narcissistic meglomania.

Well, first of all, the "cabin" looks like a real studio, not just a shack in the woods. Second, I'm glad you're getting Geir's name right (when the Norwegians say it, it sounds like "Gaia" to me....) and third, check out the earth closet? Do you mean you have been doing a poo inventory?

Sounds like a fantastic trip, haven't been able to listen to the final output yet but will do so over the next few days.

Cheers,

Nigel

well geir definitely does need more mirrors in his hut and if i wasnt there to keep them all shipshape and in bristol fashion we wouldnt have got anything recorded.

aside from all their bad habits and petty foibles i can honestly say i have spent the weekend with three of the most considerate, intelligent and wonderful examples of the human race.

geir, tharek and mike thank you for a very special and magical experience that i will remember for as long as my early onset dementia allows.

Well , a great deal of hand wrenching went into my decision to accept the invite to the UK invasion of Norway Met 2013 , i mean anyone in there right mind would never turn down such an invite , but , to begin with you have 5 top Songcrafter heroes who have met and collaborated on many great songs in the past , tried & tested you might say , then someone who has not sung or played an instrument in quite a while , feeling quite inferior , not knowing what might be asked of him , being thrown into the fire , well for good or bad I'm in , bring it on Met 2013

Quote from: facemask93 on September 05, 2013, 12:06:37 PMWell , a great deal of hand wrenching went into my decision to accept the invite to the UK invasion of Norway Met 2013 , i mean anyone in there right mind would never turn down such an invite , but , to begin with you have 5 top Songcrafter heroes who have met and collaborated on many great songs in the past , tried & tested you might say , then someone who has not sung or played an instrument in quite a while , feeling quite inferior , not knowing what might be asked of him , being thrown into the fire , well for good or bad I'm in , bring it on Met 2013

Oh good for you Rob - you have no reason to feel inferior, you are supremely talented Mr Facemask93

Rockin good news - look forward to it all unfolding in pictures, posts and songs - perhaps some live performances thrown in for good measure. Exciting stuff, I'm still buzzing from my Met with Hook ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I can't seem to record at the moment though, jet lag really screwed me this time. It will come!
