Hi everyone!
One of my friends at the 50/90 songwriting challenge pointed me to this site. Looking forward to joining the community here.
I'm a dad and husband, high school journalism teacher, aspiring banjo picker, and performing songwriter. Mainly I write and sing life lessons for our daughter, nostalgic looks at my upbringing, tales of unique characters and creatures, and some goofy stuff, too.
I dig mountain music, heartfelt soul, funky reggae, ghostly acoustic blues, and a jangly jam-band groove that plays in my head pretty much all day.
Simple living and tropical gardening inspire me, too.

Hi Chip, by the sound of your short bio I think you will fit in real good here.

"dig mountain music, heartfelt soul, funky reggae, ghostly acoustic blues, and a jangly jam-band groove that plays in my head pretty much all day" that sounds like the kind of stuff I dig too.  Lets hear one of your songs.

Welcome from sunny Portland, Maine!  :)  Mountain music is so other-worldly (I've recently 'discovered' The Carter Family myself).

Dive right in and upload a track or two - I would love to hear some banjo or whatever you choose to post.

You should cover that song, Geir!

I did dileberately leave out the hot springs, as (tho Norway have a couple on Spitsbergen) I suspect Mr Plant was thinking of Iceland, but then again the time the song is put in, the people living in Iceland were Norwegian settlers. I wiki'ed Iceladic history and just have to qoute a paragraph : "Ingólfur (the first Norwegian settler) was followed by many more Norse chieftains, their families and slaves who settled all the inhabitable areas of the island in the next decades. These people were primarily of Norwegian, Irish and Scottish origin, the Irish and Scots being mainly slaves and servants of the Norse chiefs" :D sorry James  ;)

Oh ... and yes ... I should cover that one !! One of my favourite Zep songs!!

Hi from Montreal.
I was just in Miami a couple months back for the first time.

Is that near you?
