How to test an SD card for my BR800?

I have contacted a young man who is selling a few SD cards.  8 gigs for $10.
I need to know a way to test them? They are not any of the ones recommended.
Bring my BR800 and try to run it? If it formats it's ok?

I think I would try recording a minute or two on a stereo track and repeat that on three more stereo tracks soon you're sure it can play six tracks and records to two.

I got a couple of 8 gig and one 4 gig for $25. About a third of the chips that he had, did not format.
