Audacity help... digital clipping (???)

Being the audacious man that I am...

I am mixing a song in Audacity.
It sounds great when I play it back in Audacity.

When I export it as an MP3, I get something that could be called "digital clipping" as if my levels are too high.

Does this have anything to do with my Hz settings or my Kbps?

If it sounds fine in Audacity, try exporting an uncompressed 16 bit 44 kHz WAV file - if that sounds fine, then the problem is with your mp3 settings or encoder.

Thanks cuthbert... I'm not sure if this resolved the problem, but it helped orient me a bit more in the use of Audacity.

I reduced the levels on all of the tracks and tinkered with some other stuff... the good news is that the problem is gone but the bad news is I don't know what the problem was!
