Finalised

I have just finished writing a cd. A few points if I may.

Once the writing was done 8x speed, the machine says complete, then it said "Finalising'', this without any input from me. Anyway, tried to play the disc back on the BR and it says driver busy. Pressed the finalise button and up popped error. I took the cd downstairs and it plays fine on the hi fi. Is this normal I ask myself? I have no idea but the main thing is it plays on other cd players but not on the BR1200.
Did the spider have any input?

Been a while since I used those functions on the BR1200 - 
I now use the BR for recording and then transfer the .wavs to PC.
But I seem to recall that once Finalised the CD plays in the BR by using the CD Write/Play button down to the right(?)
