It's time to vote for our next "Theme/Genre" festival which will run from May 1 to June 30th. Voting starts now and runs for 6 days. You can change your vote any time until the closing of the poll on April 30th. To do so, click "Remove vote" to cancel your previous vote, then vote again.

Bawdy Songs - See the Wikipedia entry here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bawdy#Bawdy_song

Duets - Pretty obvious, I would think. These will be mainly vocal duets, which means you'll have to collaborate with another singer who is also a member of Songcrafters (or a relative or romantic partner).

Songs Done with Alternate Guitar Tunings - Another obvious one. When you post, you have to tell us which alternate tuning you used.

VoiceFest - No instruments. Only the human voice is allowed for making sounds. Doesn't necessarily have to have lyrics. Any vocal sounds can be used. And you're encouraged to use lots of overdubbing.

80s synthpop - Can be covers of songs by 80s synthpop bands, or originals done in that style. See the Wikipedia page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthpop.

Surf - Can be covers or originals done in the surf style. See Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surf_music

FamilyFest - Songs recorded only with members of your family (kids, spouse, siblings, pets, etc.)

Drinking Songs - Fairly obvious. Any songs whose lyrics are about alcoholic beverages or the imbibing of same. Could also be songs that are commonly sung in pubs, bars, etc. while drinking (so lyrics don't necessarily have to be about drinking in that case). See Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drinking_songs

We're not voting for an "Artist/Covers" fest this time because it was already decided by the tie-breaker vote at the end of February. So it will be VarietyFest 2 (Dire Straits, XTC, Aerosmith, Mott the Hoople, The Smiths, Talking Heads). See the following post for details:

I'm all set to do Tainted Love, voice only, with my unromantic partner, in the style of a Bawdy song - I'm spreading my options!

I suppose covers could be done without a synth, as long as the original was clearly 80s synthpop. But Songcrafter originals would need a synth to qualify as synthpop.
