It's time to vote for our next two festivals which will run from May 1 to June 30. Voting starts now and runs for 5 days. You can change your vote any time until the closing of the poll on April 30th. To do so, click "Remove vote" to cancel your previous vote, then vote again.

This poll is for the "Artists/Covers" festival. There is a separate poll for the "Theme/Genre" festival here:

We've decided to create some descriptions for each festival choice to clarify what they're about. Hopefully, this will help people in making their choice. And, when a festival is finally chosen, it might help to avoid any unsuitable posts based on incorrect assumptions about the festival.

Here are the descriptions for the choices in the Artists/Covers poll. We're still working on the descriptions for the Theme/Genre choices and will post them when they're finished (probably within a day or two).

Artists / Covers:

  • David Bowie - Covers of songs written and/or recorded by David Bowie. Can also include collaborations with other artists in which Bowie was a featured vocalist. For example, Queen's "Under Pressure".
  • Off the Beaten Track - Covers of obscure songs that never charted or are not very well known.
  • U2 - Covers of songs written and/or recorded by U2 or its members. Can also include collaborations with other artists in which Bono was a featured vocalist, regardless of the other musicians involved.
  • Female Artists - Covers of songs recorded by female artists. Gender-specific lyrics can be altered for a male singer. Songs can also be done as instrumentals. If a song has been covered by many artists, both male and female, then the most popular version of the song should be by a female artist.
  • Lou Reed / Velvet Underground - Covers of songs written and/or recorded by Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, or its members.
  • The Who - Covers of songs written and/or recorded by The Who or its members, including solo works. Some collaborations by members of The Who with other musicians might be allowed, but please check with the admin team first to avoid disappointment.
  • Pink Floyd / Syd Barrett - Covers of songs written and/or recorded by Pink Floyd or its members, including solo works. Some collaborations by members of Pink Floyd with other musicians might be allowed, but please check with the admin team first to avoid disappointment.
  • Leonard Cohen - Covers of songs written and/or recorded by Leonard Cohen.

All of these choices are for covers only. If you want to do an original song, see the Theme/Genre festival instead.

Songs about the artist or songs that merely mention the artist's name are not allowed unless written and/or recorded by the artists themselves.

If you're considering covering a song that doesn't clearly fit the descriptions above, please check with the admin team before you start working on it. Many songs by associated artists could be included in a festival. However, some are not suitable and we need to decide them on a case-by-case basis.

If you have any questions about any of these poll choices, please ask them here.
