I always wanted to be an actor
Not on the stage or in some silly pantomime
Oh to be seen on that silver screen
Just a dream, just a dream of mine

I'll play a secret agent or a caped crusader
Or a freedom fighter fighting off the invader
The sheriff of Dodge who cleans up the town
The tough PI sending the bad guys down

I wanna play a good guy in the movies
A dream that's always consumed me
I'll read all the fan-mail sent to me
When I play a good guy in the movies

I wanna be the guy who throws one punch
Knocks out four or five guys at once
Or maybe a scientist who saves the world
The guy who gets the prettiest girl

My mother said I must be crazy
Your father wants you to be a musician
But I can't handle all that practicing
All those lessons and that tuition

I wanna play a good guy in the movies
A dream that's always consumed me
All the fan-mail sent to me
When I play a good guy in the movies

Very cool song Ray! I like all the changes here, it feels like it shifts through different moods. Very movie-esque which finds the subject matter perfectly. Great production as always here, those drums in particular sound massive!

Wonderful stuff.  Of course.  Great lyrics and delivered  to perfection.  Fantastic production throughout although I'm particularly drawn to the stabby polysynth chords.

The bad guys normally have better hats though.  Just saying...

I listened to this earlier in my car.
Great storytelling as usual.
When it fires up it takes on a new life.
Like the bouncing bows in the background.
That electric guitar in the chorus  adds a great soundscape.
Those treated harmonies are a nice  touch too.
So many changes in this song and well thought out parts  right down to the hi hat's.
Excellent track.

Always curious where lyric ideas originate. I always look forward to pressing play on your posts. They are so impeccably crafted. Each one is a master class in songwriting, arrangement and production.

Tasty guit-fiddling in that outro. That one blue note after the drums come back in was especially awesome. I had to go back twice more to hear it.

Heard this the other day but didn't get the chance to comment, You always do some very interesting lyrical themes with all your music Ray, it's always interesting to see what you come up with next. This is real different musically with the backing,  liked that nah vocal just before the main music kicks in, nice vocal work on this song, catchy song and cool guitar solo to end , enjoyed

Bloody brilliant Ray. Listening here on headphones and it sounds great. I do love that punchy synth. Downloaded for my Songcrafters collection... thank you.

Really like the music here.  You cover some of my TV heroes (Matt Dillon and Batman).
Great listen.

By and large, jazz has always been like the kind of a man you wouldn't want your daughter to associate with.
