Original Songs / Try Not To Look Down by Oldrot...
Last post by Oldrottenhead - Today at 10:23:46 AM
I wrote this last night on my acoustic guitar, however when I had time for recording today, it became a bit of a struggle. I was out in my hut and the noise from the rain made it too difficult to record an unplugged acoustic. So i plugged in my tele. Never used a drum or click track, so it is a completely different beast from what i had intended last night. I might try and redo this at somepoint. but hey!

It is what it is.
The future's coming faster
Last week's a lifetime ago
There's no time to take it in
No room to see the view
We hurtle through the stardust
There is no standing still
Balanced on a knife edge
Try not to look down
Try not to look down
We climbed out of the sea
Then walked upon the land
Disappeared into the trees
Then burned the forest down
Survived the floods the wrath of gods
Then took wing to air
Survival of the fittest
Try not to look down
Try not to look down
We dip our toes in outer space
And venture further still
There's no more future in this place
We've scraped it inside out
So on we go into the now
There's nothing left to burn
On into oblivion
Try not to look down
Try not to look down

The cool bass is stealing the show! It gives me the feel of a lead instrument. Great vocals with a killer melody. I like the way you used/mixed the strings (violins) to create a bit of tension in certain spots. Well done John!

Cover Songs / Het Dorp by a Dutch actor,sing...
Last post by the physics teacher - Today at 06:42:10 AM
I asked a student at my school where I teach Physics to play for me this song.
I knew he was a briljant pianoplayer because I had seen him perform on the same night at school where I was performing Creep from Radiohead. He sad that it was no problem so here it is on mp3.
In the sixties seventies Wim Sonneveld was a very popular comedian.

I discovered that it was difficult to sing the way Wim did but it is what it is.
The song is about an old man reminiscing about old times

Gee Willie! What a song machine! They just keep getting better. The tones, vibe, lead riffs, all the best! Thanks for a great listen. 8)

That is some wonderfully crazy bass. I dig that Oberheimish patch as well. Wonderful vocal melodies as well.

love that cool keyboard shhhhhwwwwhhhh thing... that repeats... I don't think I have heard you use that before...

another lovely tune.. meanders about some big ideas and deep stuff.  Not for small minded people.  This is not 3 chord rock.  It shifts about like a mountain stream ever gaining momentum and twisting and turning as it picks up more and more flow along its route to the larger water!  The sax sounds great too... against that bass guitar.  Drums are always perfect.

the vocals absolutely 100 percent fit this wonderful piece.  solid stuff
