I haven't posted any music in a while so I thought I'd get off my duff and do something musically. This is a collab with J. Rodriguez. Joseph did the music, backing vocals and mix/master. I did the lead vocal. It felt good to blow out the cobwebs and stretch my vocal chords a bit. I recorded, edited and mixed my vocal in Audacity. I used an inexpensive  USB Samson Meteor condenser mic made for podcasts. It has a headphone plug and volume knob on the mic and doesn't need an interface. Just plug in, hit record and go...nice and easy.
There's a Fire in the Hole (Farrell Jackson © 02-07-25)
(V1) A spark ignites the flame inside. With every glance, our hearts collide.

(Chr) There's a fire in the hole. It's out of control.
Don't want to put it out. My love is hot for you.

(V2) Flickers dance and ember's glow. In this heat we're all alone.

(Chr 2xs ) There's a fire in the hole. It's out of control.
Don't want to put it out. My love is hot for you.
A fire in the hole. It's ready to blow.
I want you to know. My love is hot for you.

(V3) Through the darkest nights. (There's a fire in the hole.)
We'll keep the flame burning bright.  Keep the flame burning bright (There's a fire in the hole.)
(Solo)
(Repeat Chr)

(V4) Challenges may come our way. (There's a fire in the hole)
Hand in hand, we'll face the day. Hand in we'll face the day (There's a fire in the hole)

Test, test, one, two, three.....is this mic on?

Ted

This is a helluva time machine! But what would be the year? 1978? A super-exciting song, but it definitely puts me in a different time and place. It has an opening riff that the crowd recognizes instantly – Yea! This is why I paid $25 for tickets to see this band – to hear this hit?

A great raspy vocal performance! Men of a certain age shouldn't be making this kind of music, but I'm not about to tell you to stop. I'd love to be able to sing like you, and I would if I could! Age be damned.

I could learn some things from you about Audacity. I tend to use it for manipulating single files. I know it's come a long way as a multi-track DAW software, but I haven't tried doing a multi-track recording in Audacity in [does math] 18 years!

Bloody hell, this rocks straight off the bat. That's Joseph sure can play the guitar well..sounds awesome.
Brilliant song all round. Love the vocals, bit of a screamer, catchy chorus and lyrics. Also the drums are cool. Great collaboration.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

Wow this rocks. Joseph's backer is totally awesome, some brillaint guitar work,  and Farrell's vocals are superb. You certainly gave your vocal chords a good blast.

Worthy of a play on any classic rock station - has a bit of an AC/DC vibe !

Just brilliant, Farrell. The production is first class and your vocal is stunning here. The guitar work by Joe as always is stellar but it's your vocal work that is the icing on the cake. Fantastic track.

Yeah wow. It's about time this type of music came back into fashion (well it was never out here on SC). Proper explosive rock and roll. Yeah a little AC/DC vibe, but how good is that!

That is real pro level in every respect. This is stadium ready.

Cheers guys.

as good as rock gets imo!  can possibly be matched, but it cannot be topped...
two giants of rock collaboration bringing the goods!
people be walking by going wtf?  heads turning... people who were walking by are drawn like moths to the light, only to be burned when they finally reach the flame....
yeah man ...

check this out and this is absolutely true... I have this giant oak tree about a hundred feet tall and it hangs out over our house... the base is rotting and I have been trying to get someone for months to come here and take it down... well, a few weeks ago mr. Clay Evans came out and got the top off, all the branches etc... just now he fell the main trunk and it made a thunderous crash in perfect synch to this track adding an extra element of power to emphasize the power!

and I am happy this threat is gone...

JRod does indeed know how to rock even as you do.
killer vocal work.. I would be interested, like Ted to know a bit more about what you did in Audacity on the vocals... I use Audacity alot... this is great.
