Watch any good movies lately?

Much like the "What are You Currently Reading?" thread, I thought it might be nice to get some suggestions about some cinema.

I'm just finishing up a movie I have been trying to get through this week. I know that makes it sound uninteresting, but I usually get to watch right before doze, and I don't last too long these days before Mr. Sandman visits (wow, that sounded creepy). Anyway, I have been watching Rush (and not the one with Gregg Allman), a film about the rivalry between formula racers Niki Lauda and James Hunt, directed by Ron Howard. From the description, it would not be something I would seek out, but I am really enjoying it. Great job of plopping you in the seventies. Even the film has a graininess to it from the time.

What have you folks got?

Thanks for the recommendation, mate! I'm going through a lot of films at the moment in my bid to totally and completely avoid watching a single second of Baron Pierre de Coubertin's festival of running, jumping and throwing, which seems to have taken over the TV schedules.

I recently watched this one, a great spoof spy film:

My 15 year old & I saw this last night & loved it. Smart, funny and charming...and often a little tough on the ears.

Thanks so much for the recommendation. I watched this last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't drive & have zero interest in cars, and I have a similar disregard for every kind of sport. So a film about motor sport wouldn't seem like a natural choice for me, but I was riveted by this film. Brilliant!

Not a movie, but since many here live in US, since next Wednesday, Gomorrah will be on the American TV screens

I'm not a fan of crime TV series generally, but believe me, this one is really well done.

The Martian.

I like sci-fi, and normally you have to suspend your disbelief when watching sci-fi films, this though was really believable.

If there's a message I think it has something to do with potatoes and poo.

I can see Gier as a Martian.

I watched "God Bless America" - a very, very, very dark comedy. On Amazon Prime - picked it at random as a film to watch with my mum - erhhhmm, baaaadddd move!

Just watched "En Man Som Heter Ove" (a man called Ove) starring Rolf Lassgard the original Wallander. I think it is now my all time favourite film. I laughed like a drain and cried like a baby. Is Swedish, I watched with English subtitles. Is a must see, life affirming movie. Will post a trailer when I get to my pc.
