_This is my last try until now on The Boss Micro Br.

It's the first that have a original bassline created and recorded by me last night.

I'm a Guitar Player, Not a Bassist but with the possibilities that this device offers I borrow an old bass from a friend of mine to see what happens.

Same as in my previous post, the drum pattern is the same. Hope the colours that I add keep the song interesting until the end.

The atmosphere in this track is opposite to my first shot: the "Segunda-Sem-Lei" song.

***

P.S. I had to edit the track to fit in the size rules...The original it's up to 5 minutes!

Hi Oldrottenhead,

I agree with you, the atmosphere in this song is reminiscent of this bands plus a little New Order too, especially in the bass as you see.

In the first apresentation I don't put that in perspective, but I expected some coments about.

A curious thing about is that I don't really have a bass, this one is borrowed of a friend of mine, as I said in the presentation, so I don't have a lot of skills on the instrument and the more high notes close to the 12 fret is more confortably to me to play.

Because of that I create this line with higher notes, while I was trying to experiment with the bass and then I put the guitar line and some fills.

Feel free to put some vocals and later we continue to discuss!

A translation fot the title of the song could be: "About Last Night"

hi your song is now called the lost highway after your username. this is still a work in progress as i want to tighten up harmonies , my timing and tuning and maybe rework the lyrics. please note this song is not autobiographical. inspiration came totally from your user name hope you like it.

the lost highway

ive been driving the lost highway
i dont know where it will take me
i just need some time away
ive bin driving the lost highway
on this forever changing landscape
through different towns and different places
but i still see the same old faces
ive been driving the lost highway

im going somewhere you wont find me
spend some time all on my own
dont know how long its gonna take me
i'll see you when i get home

ive been driving the lost highway
trying to see a different view
maybe sort myself out too
ive been driving the lost highway
im gonna drive to the horizon
im heading off into the blue
its something that ive gotta do
ive been driving the lost highway

gonna spend time just reflecting
on where ive been and where im going
dont know how long its gonna take me
ill see you when i get home

ive been driving on the lost highway
ive been driving on the lost highway

ive been driving the lost highway
ive been trying to find myself
but ive had no luck as yet
ive been driving the lost highway
ive been searching for some answers
trying to get a better view
so i can see a bigger picture
ive been driving the lost highway

i need time to sort things out
to figure out what i should do
dont know how long its gonna take me
or if im coming back to you

ive been driving on the lost highway
ive been driving on the lost highway
ive been driving on the lost highway
ive been driving on the lost highway

ive been driving on the lost highway
ive been driving on the lost highway

Lost Highway CWB:

Great recording man! One of the best recordings I've heard on Micro BR. Very simple, yet very effective.

Oldrottenhead: Very inspiring lyrics again my friend, love the high "I've been driving the lost highway" voice.

I see you have some bands in common.

Great work my friends, keep it up!

I recieved the e-mail telling me that my post had reply when I was working and couldn't access to listen during the day.

Only now, at night I could see, what you do!

I really liked of your lyrics and your vocal performance! I think that you capture the essence of the song with great feel!

The lyrics fit in very well. You say that the lyrics are not autobiographical, but I feel connected with the lines that you create in some interesting way.

My inspiration to create this tune was very natural and fast, but I think that some things could be improved.

I'm thinking in re-record the song in the next weekend. As I said earlier the end of the song is edited to fit in the space of the server of this forum. There's a sort of "crescendo" in final part of the song that tries to bring the song to a higher level (nothing so complicated, just a part with chords in a different rhythm).

We can exchange ideas to shape the song in a better way, if you have the disposition to do that.

For example I think that maybe you should start to sing a little bit later after the intro. Your voice reminds a little of Peter Murphy (I think that's a good thing).

Thanks for the partnership, and let's continue to work.

P.S. I had experienced problems to download the mp3 file with your vocals. Can you send me this for e-mail?

Hope we talk soon

What problems are you having? Is it an error or something? To download you have to press the attachment link with the left mouse button or in alternative you can press the Ipod-like button on the right in the mini Mp3 Player. Try this to see if you can download it.

Hey Pedro! Thanks again for your feedback and constructive opinions.

I'm a novice in home recording and I have a lot to learn about it with all the possibilities,  but I'm very satisfied in join this great community!

You get the point when you say that is simple. I'm not into all that "shred", fast stuff. I respect and admire virtuosity. But personally, I try to find simple things, colours and textures to build a song.

Have you tried clicking on the Ipod-like button on the Mp3 player? It still displays the same error?

I just switched to Internet Explorer and it gave me an error the first time, then I went to other songs and tried to download the other files and it went well. Then came back to this topic and it started working! What a crazy thing...

Try to download other people's songs and then come back and try to download the songs on this topic again. It is a stupid solution, but try it. Also, did this ever happened with other songs? Or just with this one?

I'm sorry about this, I really don't understand what's the problem.
