Weird scenes inside the goldmine

WWW
« on: July 14, 2009, 03:53:17 PM »

Here we go... I think I'm 10 mins early, but I need to go to bed!  Cheesy

Tim Hardin performed this song (he wrote it) wonderfully at Woodstock, but it's been covered by a lot of people since. I recommend checking out Bobby Darin's version on Youtube - it really is an incredible vocal performance. Poor Mr Hardin seemed a bit worse for wear at Woodstock, but there's a rawness and honesty about his performance that is very moving.

This is just me and my Tanglewood on the BR.

Ha! You will have to be the honorary precursor to all the 'fests here now! At least you waited 'till 5 minutes before this time Cheesy Cheesy (Just messin' with ya!)

I love this song, but being an idiot, I only remember the Robert Plant cover. I thought he wrote it.. Shocked

This is perfect - I envy your guitar playing sometimes. Natural and open. What a tune...

Peace,

Mark

Covers dont need attention to detail, just do it your way. Two different takes on this song so far, both different, both brilliant. Hell, I may drag the acoustic out tomorrow and do my (comparatively) pathetic fingerpicked version. Go for it!!!!!

I was going to suggest checking out Canned Heat T. Right up your grungier side.  Easy stuff for you I bet.

I am surprised to see this up twice already.  The version I have hear tends to be more country so was going to pass this up.  But you are excellent.

Very nice Greeny. I love your tunes. Your guitar always sounds great and the way you sing this song is dripping with emotion.

Really well done!

Geir plays this one properly (check it out!!!!!) - I can't fingerpick, so this is the best I could do. And I opened up the lines a little on the vocal. So this isn't really a faithfull cover, just my alternative version.

Thanks everyone!

Just a lovely version. Your vox are great but I particularly like the guitar work on this one, it's really, really effective. Little interesting meldoic morsels tossed into the soup of the rhythm playing. I ate it all right up and savoured ievery spoonful.

Cheers,

Nigel
