I can definitely say you have your own musical identity, your own style. And it's very distinct. I can listen to an unknown song made by you and say "wait, this is an oldrottenhead song".

Just a question, do you do all the vocals? And another, how much time does it takes you to write songs like this?

Thanks for sharing this.  Cool

its all me. i did the music in a day it shows eh? it lay around for a while, then i got back to it on sunday and having some snippets of words and a general theme in mind i got to work on the lyrics, they came pretty fast as i usually write/sing stream of thought ie the first thing that comes into my head then rewrite and rewrite till i have a complete lyric, then sing it all in one go. so lead vocal and backing vocal done in an hour or so.

the song went straight in at number 9 on the soundclick britpop chart.
see here and look for the bunkbeds.

I thought you took much longer to write songs because they always sound very solid.

So you first come up with the lyrics and then the melody, right?

lyrics usually come last, i usually mess about to get a sound going then lay a backing track and then go for the vocals, i have maybe a title or subject matter in my head but i just let go and see what comes out. then i listen and fine tune the lyrics and redo it. then add backing vocals and mibbes some more guitar or keyboard depending how happy i am with the song, then its onto the next song.

This turned out very well, is this all on the br or did you use any external equipment?

Sounds like you have the same process for song writing/recording as I do, save for the fact that I am terrible at every completing more then half of what I start.

i think the drums where done on the pc, then recorded to tracks 1 and 2 in a stereo mix via the line in input, then the rest was done on the micro br.
i too have lots of unfinished stuff, but every now and again inspiration pays me a visit.
you can hear my other efforts at www.soundclick.com/thebunkbeds

Nice one ORH, quite an Andy Summers-ish feel to the guitars there.

Cheers,
