NeilFest 2009 Index

Hey everyone, I did my own acoustic rendition of Like a Hurricane last night and wanted to share it with everyone!  Geir, this NEIL-FEST is really rockin!!

I hope everyone isn't tired of hearing this tune - so many great singers doing it already...

Go easy on me, this is probably my second time I ever recorded myself singing...  But I had fun playing & singing it on my old 11-string guitar.

Hey satch, that is deadly.  It is like the english folk version, right down to the vocals and whistling.  Great job.  I like that whistling at the beginning and end.  And what great 11-string playing.  Really cool version!

Great version Satch!  Loved it and yes, the whistling adds a good feel to it.  Did you record your acoustic straight in? or was that a patch effect?
Isn't is a great song or what!  Cheers, Rockatron

You guys are very kind, thank you!

I really had fun doing something I luv from the heart, simple, and raw.  I definitely need to re-string my 12-string acoustic....all kind of icky sounds were commin out last night....

I may try to sing more often, but will definitely favor collaborating with good singers, like I have with ORH!

I sang and played into the on-board mic with the "nylon"-something patch...can't recall the actually patch name.  Then I added a couple tracks of booster support...then the phone rang...re-do....then the dogs start barking....re-do again.....all in all I had fun!

Good one Satch !!! You sing well and should push yourself to do it more often, I know I didn't have much confidence in my singing before starting to post here and now I've even added vox to other ppls songs ... I'm still no singer but it's getting better!

And besides your vox you really got those strings singing!!!!

Thanks Geir - that is encouraging!

I really need to just practice singing and playing more - I have a tendency to voice my thoughts & feelings thru guitar notes alone - so I'll try doing an original with lyrics sometime -

I like the idea of singing in the car (maybe out in the deserted desert noplace)...cuz I don't think the shiny box could handle my shower  Cheesy

This is such a quirky peice. It's like Joey Ramone doing a madrigal  - it's wonderful!

You should sing more, you have a great vocal style. Brilliant!

Thanks Flash Harry!  I think I can sing in key better when I sing lower; I can sing higher - more rock style - but I have a tendency to be a little more pitchy...

I enjoyed listening to your NEIL-FEST tune there - you've got a great voice!!

Joey Ramone does a madrigal! I love Flash's perspective on that, and it's not far off. Great guitar playing, that old 11-string sounds good and you recorded it well. And well done for doing some vox - they work well in the context of this song. Your voice sounds good, with a bit more practice and control you would bring out the potential. That's the great thing about the MBR - it's easy to try new stuff and itr actually records vox quite well.

Cheers,

Nigel
