Where now for man raised by puffins?

WWW
« on: January 09, 2011, 07:03:02 am »

ken sent me the music in my email this morning, i have been watching the news and events in the usa inspired the lyric. so an outsiders perspective.

music and backing vocals by kenneth words and vocals by oldrottenhead
The ticking of the clock
Is never heard until it stops
A troubled mind a loaded gun
My god what have you done
No

What was your purpose what was your goal
Will we ever really know
What sent you on the road you took
Something you read in the good book
No
No

The repercussions will be heard
Around the world everywhere
Your name it will go down in history
A stupid boy  a wasted destiny
No

The bitter words the twisted rhetoric
Maybe now they will be kept in check
And all those others in your target’s sights
How can you even sleep at night
No

Six wasted lives and maybe more
The blame cannot be laid at just one door
Responsibility it must be shared
Do any of you even care
No
No

How do you begin to start again
Pick up the pieces and then what then
You know that there’s too much at stake
It’s time to learn from the mistakes
No

A twisted mind a twisted choice
That needs a gun to have a voice
No
No

Six wasted lives and maybe more
The blame cannot be laid at just one door
Responsibility it must be shared
If you’re gonna get anywhere
No

A troubled mind a loaded gun
My god what have you done
The ticking of the clock
Is never heard until it!

A new Honker of a song. It dragged me in on that beginning guitar from Ken the man. Awesome musicianship man!

For you to put together words for a serious subject like this is incredible Jim. I`m in awe.

Stunning.

Your words (and delivery) resonate, Jim - and words also fail me. Ken, that's one intricately crafted piece of music - and together they are quite powerful.

What a passionate response to this tragedy.

I live in Arizona, as you know. My feelings have been a combination of anger over the political climate that led to these shootings, and shame that I'm associated with a state that produces so much hatefulness.

Certainly political elements in this country have been not-so-subtly trolling for assassins since 2008. (The Palin graphic is an example of the kind of bait they have been using.) It's unsurprising that this stocked pond is where they found one.

Thanks, ORH.

Thanks guys!

Jim, your subject matter suits the music, good choice.
Watching the news on this, disgusted, and glad on the lyrics.

Washes over my ears, another stonker by honker. Real life* is something I could never sing about, so I'm always tipping my hat to those that can.

Monumental. The guitar hook is immense and the power of the lyric and vocal delivery is classic ORH. Stunning stuff.

This is up there with my favourite Honker tunes, the superb guitar work throughout is so good on the ear and the whole arrangement of the song is spot on.
Cracking vocal too, Jim's voice is very poignant throughout, really reflecting the subject matter.
