One take with acoustic guitar and vocal.  Seems like there’s been a run on one-guitar/one-vox recordings around here lately…..  Smiley

Recorded with home-made Jecklin disk stereo mic straight into the M-BR.  We don’t have access to the Delay when recording in stereo on the M-BR so I had to then do a sub-mix bounce with the Delay set to match the BPM and LOCated onto the vocal track. Then did a mastering mix using PreMaster.

"Strawberry Fields Forever" cover by Hooper
Words and music by John Lennon.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Single instrument, single voice, it's so simple but so difficult.

This sounds brilliant Hooper. So good.

This takes some balls... a really hard song to do as a stripped down and acoustic cover. You really pulled it off though. It gives the song a totally fresh feel, and both your vocal tone and playing are WONDERFUL. I love this!

We've got enough for a beatles cover album between us all now haven't we?!  Smiley

Hooper:
This is damn f******* great.  Jeez, it's better than
99% of the new music that's out there.  I'm gonna
record the instrumental track for "Norwegian Wood"
and post it for your vocals.  You are spot-on John
Lennon.

Thanks guys.

Tim is the expert Beatle singer around here in my book. Maybe try Norwegian Wood with Tim on the lead vox and I'd put on the harmony?

You're right, Jim.  Anyway, I still had to add the Delay after the live take in order to put Delay just on the vocal and not on the guitar.

really great take ken, is going on my mp3 player.

by the way at work last night the muse came and gave me a lyric, no tune or melody tho. but if your interested its a 3 line verse followed by a 2 line refrain then repeated (with different words lol)
then a 4 line chorus/verse)
then the 3 line verse followed by 2 line refrain repeated as before
then fade out on repeat of chorus refrain.
am not posting the lyrics as i dont want to influence the outcome andstructure can be left loose too, but so many words came could get two songs out of it or mibbes a prog rock epic, but thing is the words, verses etc can be juggled about to suit any song structure.
subject matter is the strong person, always calm at the centre of the storm etc but the toll it takes on them. could be a mother a soldier a nurse a doctor whatever

I love the accoustic guitar recording.

This is the sound I'm trying to get.

Sounds great.

Did you know that George Martin slowed the original tape speed (4 track!!) to drop the entire recording by a semitone at the verse/chorus change over.

Don't think the MBR can do that, but a PC program might for a real touch of authenticity.

Awesome bump. Surely this should be on the Woodstock jukebox??? (Ritchie Havens did it there).

This is one of the finest covers we've had. Another Hooper masterpiece!
