I've hemmed and hawwed about posting this for the last two days. I worked pretty hard on it but I crack and go flat in a couple spots that really bother me, but I am not gonna get good at this unless it's gets critiqued. I have added more production learning how to bounce (thanks 64). The vocals are higher in the mix (thanks everyone). This is a Lynyrd Skynyrd song but this is done more in the Metallica vein. Again, let me know what I could have done better. Thanks

I think it's great - The levels could still be brought up more, though. I like where the vox sit though. Maybe just bring everything up equally.

I don't see where you did anything "wrong" in the sense where you should be uncomfortable posting this. I think it's a job well done on the performance end, and continuing to record, sing and play will work it all out.

The vocals? I like your style, and the delivery is very enjoyable. I wouldn't lie about something like that.

Great job,

Mark

I agree with Launched, your recording and sound are good but the levels could be little higher. I love this tune and you've done a pretty good job on the delivery. I was toying around with this earlier in the week and thinking of doing it also. Great cover Hank.

Great job this is a really enjoyable listen, you vox sound really good to me. I find if the vox is too perfect you don,t get any light and shade and yours are very good.

Were the vocals and guitars and vocals seperate, or played and sung at the same time?

I love this song! Both Skynyrd AND Metallica's version are great.

You did this really well. Your voice fits the song perfectly.

i'm not familiar with this song at all, but i think this is great, i thought the vocals where fantastic you get a lot of depth and emotion over through them. sometimes we are our own worst critics.

great post hank. need to check out what else you have done and keep an eye out for future posts

This is a nice cover, and your vox sounds good to me!
The whole overall volume of the song is low...I had to
turn up the volume on my end.

The vox is fine and the guitar playing is excellent, so your right there in the performance department.

All the recording needs is some overall volume, as others have said.

As is this is a good post and I enjoyed listening to it!!  Keep 'em coming! Smiley

Thanks to everyone for listening! My mistake was recording the vocals too hot, so to compensate I mastered it way too low. I have since have read the post on clipping and will hopefully will learn from it. What I tried with the vocals was I sang the first two lines of the verse and was silent the next two lines and sang the chorus. The next vocal I did I sang line 3 & 4 and sang the last two choruses to double then. I was looking for an over lapping effect with the lyrics, but it never materialized. Thanks again.
