ASCAP... Are You A Member?

« on: February 07, 2010, 07:55:09 PM »

I decided to become a member of ASCAP.  It costs $35.  I understand that they help you collect royalties if one of your songs are played on the radio or other medium.  I figured it might give me a bit more credibility if I wanted to try to sell a song.

What do you guys think?

We have APRA and AMCOS down here.  Membership is free for writers.  You get discounts on stuff like gear insurance and extended warranty on Roland products for some reason.

They are affiliated to ASCAP and most of the other performing rights associations around the world.

Seems like a good idea to me.
