You can't tuna fish

Ricocaster laid down a pretty sweet blues shuffle so I threw some vox on it.

Rickocaster - Guitars, Bass and Drums
Vanncad - Lyrics, Vox, Harp

I'm not the best at working with MP3s so I hope this sounds okay.

First time playing harp for me. Used an "A" harp through the on-board mics with Guitar effect P25 (called "Rock Lead" I think). It has the right "sound", just wish I could play better.

Here's the lyrics (maybe some of you guys can relate.... Grin)

Saturday Night

I went out on the weekend to my backwater bar
I drank so much man that I couldn’t drive my car
I asked waitress "Honey what should I do?"
She said “I saw a little lady who's been looking at you
And she might take you home, if you ask her right
'Cause everybody's friendlier on Saturday night”

“Yeah she might take you home, if you ask her right
‘Cause everybody’s friendlier on Saturday night”

I drank some courage and I walked over there
She was a beauty with long golden hair
She looked as pretty as a fine movie star
And I was smilin’ as I jumped in her car
I tell you brother, I was feelin' all right
'Cause everybody’s lonelier on Saturday night

When I woke in the morning couldn’t believe what I saw
My little angel had some hair on her jaw
Her eyes were crooked, and her dentures were too
And she weighed in just under 482
Thought to myself man something just isn’t right
She didn’t look like this before I turned out the light

I heard her yellin, as I ran for my life
“Baby everybody’s prettier on Saturday night”.
I heard her yellin, as I ran for my life
“Baby everybody’s prettier on Saturday night”.

Good lord, that tone is huge.  I think I said this once before, but you remind be of Billy Gibbons while he was going through his Bixonic Expandora phase.  Really great collaboration, guys.  The line about "hair on her jaw" was priceless.

Sorry Wiley - I should clarify. This is my first time playing blues harp.

I can play "Heart of Gold" by Neil Young and the intro to the "The Wizard" by Black Sabbath. Now I have added this song to my repertoire. I have been practicing "bending" notes, but I have never played harp to a blues song before.

P.S. - The distortion effects help alot too!  Wink

Rickocaster has some excellent guitar licks here and I didn’t want to “step” all over them.

Thanks guys!  Blooby, funny you mentioned Billy. If you listen to the slide part you'll hear a couple of licks inspired by Just Got Paid.  Thanks for revealing his tone secret. I always wondered how he got that tone and it was the subject of several conversations when I was a kid. The rumor was that he had amps specially designed. A pedal? Who knew?

Hey, does anyone know how to delete the first few measures of a song once you've recorded all the tracks? With the br600, I find I must have either a lengthy drum intro or period of silence in order to be in sync with the drum patterns throughout the song. I really didn't want to have a drum intro but couldn't find a way around it.

Totally sweet collab, guys!!! It rocked the living hell out of me!

Vann - Awesome vocals and harp. Kick ass!!
Rick - You backed it up in fantastic form - Pro playing!!

Rick, you have to use Break patterns to make silence. Not sure how to do it on a 600, but using the Break pattern works for me.

Later!

First, bounce your tracks for the final mix. You only want to trim this final mix, not the individual tracks. Then use the Track Move feature to move measure 3 (or whichever measure the song actually starts at) of the final mix back to measure 1. See pages 79 and 80 of the BR-600 manual. An easy way to specify the location of the end of the song is to hold down the STOP key and press FF.

Another way to trim your song is to export the final mix to a WAV file, then import that file into Audacity or some similar wave editing program. This will allow you to precisely trim the ends visually.
