Right. This song was not played at Woodstock 40 years ago. But it may be the first song that was written about Woodstock. (does that count?) All vocals and acoustic guitar recorded using the M-BR on-board mic and tracked into Sonar. Tremelo guitar recorded direct-in via POD, lead guitar direct-in to the M-BR using Blues Dv patch and electric bass direct-in via the line-out of Cube bass amp. Mixed in Sonar and Mastered on the M-BR. My sister Nancy performed the lead vocal. Thanks for listening. Woodstock written by Joni Mitchell

Now... this is f*cking special. It should be the theme song for the whole fest! I like the way you've kind of merged the Joni and Matthew's Southern Comfort versions together to form a new, perfectly formed hybrid. Nancy's vocal is perfect for this, and as always, the production is breathtaking (the quality alone is easily as good as any professional studio, but your mixing skills are what make it). It really doesn't get better than this. One of the very finest things I've heard on this forum. Still in shock! |

Wow - A daymaker this one. Those background vocals are the bee's knees, man!! And the guitar work was fantastic - love the lead portions.
I'll be listening to this one all day - Officially in my Woodstock rotation.
Enviable production - Solid!

HPR - Agree completely with the other Forum Posters on Playing, Singing, and Production. A rock-solid recording which should be immediately e-mailed to Roland HQ in Japan, advising them that this is what is possible with the Micro-BR. On 2nd thoughts, don't!! They may dump the rest of the BR-Series, and the rest of us may find ourselves adrift! |

The production is fantastic, the playing equally, the singing, well, I bet angles can't sing better! Beautiful job. I am very glad you found time to get on in for the fest, and what an addition! |

I think Greeny has summed up quite well my feelings on this. Radio ready, incredbly well done version. This song was HUGE in my life. When it was first released (1970?), the "bomber death planes" that were flying over my head in Vietnam were definitely not turning into butterflies...but the line "got to get back to the land and set my soul free"..was like an epiphany. From that moment on, it was my Life's mission. Five years later, i found that land in the middle of nowhere and moved onto it in a tent. No water or electric for a year while a built my first shelter..but that song and the philosophy behind it were always with me. It always gives me goosebumps to hear it and your version is no different. It is a sacred song for me. I may not have time to do a cover for this great BR team tribute, but i will go post a song i wrote that was the result of the above influence and experience. Somebody in some thread said that would be ok... Bravo Hooper...just incredibly well done and i also vote that it be the theme song for this whole tribute project. |

I am awestruck. What a fantastically played, recorded and produced track. I know you're good Ken, but this is flawless. The playing is of such a high quality, the vocals are marvellous, the sound of Nancy's voice is perfect for this song, the delivery is perfect and you have recorded her singing superbly. The backing vox is right on the button and it's just bloody fantastic. I cannot get over the quality of this.
Marvellous.
