Where now for man raised by puffins?

WWW
« on: June 01, 2012, 11:08:56 am »

it's punk britannia night on bbc4 tonight. i was 17 when the tidal wave hit our shores. if you lived in britain at that time you might remember everything was in monochrome we didnt get technicolour til much later.

the music/attitude was so exciting compared to what had come before the peak for me was probably 1980/81 a great glasgow scene with postcard records et al. the thing is i am not a sad old punk that hankers after the old days i am still as excited about the music of today as i was back then, i just can't dance as energetically now.

i am rambling, anyway i did this very quickly before i forgot it. i intend to come back to it and do more with it, so this is the pencil sketch on my notepad. it was supposed to be about the current economic climate but took a left turn somewhere along the road.

there are no drug references in this song...........honest mum.
the clouds are closing in again
the air is warm but still no rain
my shirt is sticking to my skin
when will we see the sun again
no pause for thought or time to rest
each breaking day another test
a future that we can't control
or maybe i'm just getting old

when i was young and ignorant
i carried on regardless
i pushed myself into the wind
my energies were boundless
speed was of the essence
time of no concern
to someone
immortal

i thought i saw you on the train
a flashback from another time
reminded me of that old saying
we'll never see their likes again

he had produced new rose by the damned (officially the 1st british punk release) his quote " anyone not moved by that, is made of wood"
