hi vincent. i've been writing lyrics and poetry since 73. one key thing is just keep on writing, even if you think it sucks. after some time you should see improvements and growth. i dont write as many as i used to but i've over 1800 lyrics and poems to date. yes the earlier ones prob. suck the worse, but looking through them you can see progress through the yrs. i write spontaneously, and dont bother myself too much without pre-thinking it out. for me, then it's more natural and not demanding on myself. though lately i write for songs that already have a name or feel, and i go with that.

thank you all for the welcome, I`ll jump-in, it will take me a bit to find my way around the site.
hey.. phantasm777, thats what I believe I do is think to much,
or maybe to fussy. I really get stuck, seems like all I want to say comes out in the first verse, the chorus. and thats not much of a song. I write free-verse, I call it statements, everything I wanted to say is in that statement. its tough for me to elaborate.

stream of thought works for me, shut yer mind open your mouth and let come out what comes out. then tidy it up a bit. Grin

do whatever works for you, captain beefheart used to sing and play his guitar to bushes and trees. apparently one of his rules.

Welcome, Vincent, to Songcrafters,  to paraphrase the now defunct UK Sunday tabloid the News of the World, all musical life is here. Enjoy.   Cool
