Ok, thought I'd break my silence and finally post one.

This one is a bit of a comedy of errors.
When I heard the first lines of lyrics on a TV show commercial I thought it was a song about Zombies!
Then I looked up the chords/lyrics on the web, which it seems are not exactly correct or in the right tuning.
Anyway I sort of like the way it turned out, am currently in the process of learning the dadgad finger picked version .
Will also post that version if I ever get my fingers to not fowl up when the mouth engages.

Recording was with a single Shure SM58 mic into a mixer with light hall reverb on the channel, out through a compressor and into the MBR. Converted to an MP3 in Audacity.

Just an acoustic strum and screech, sorry for any ear damage

Gives me a Johnny Cash vibe - the same kind of gravity as his cover of 'Hurt'. This is all good: simple, direct and powerful. Your vocals are bloody good in my opinion! And the acoustic tone on the recording sounds great. You should do more like this!

Thanks guys!
Guess listening to yourself sounds worse than it is Smiley

After all the multiple mic methods I've been trying to record acoustic with before, all of which were "not good" (read really terrible sounding) this single mic method worked out surprisingly well.

I found it in an issue of a Recording mag, it just said measure your acoustic instrument length and start out with the mic at that distance.

The mag was "MusicTech Focus Magazine issue 18 Recording" really expensive in Canada so I rarely buy their issues.

Greeny , yep, it is the Johnny Cash finger style version I am trying to learn now.
But the pickin fingers seem to go to mush ever time I try to engage the mouth Smiley
Lots more practice needed, or maybe a new timing chain.

I'm getting that Johnny Cash vibe, too, which is a big thing.  Great performance and recording, Pete.
