Where now for man raised by puffins?

WWW
« on: February 02, 2011, 12:29:40 pm »

one of my favourite songs off of the propeller time album by robyn hitchcock and the venus 3.

i had a go at it this morning without drums and it was a disaster.

for this version i dug out my alesis sr16 drum machine, juno di and tried to find a quiet spot in the house.

hope i havent killed a great song.

Yeah T...I need a boost too...you got any of that vampire blood man.  Hey Jim, this is rather bloody good.  I really like your voice here, double tracked with one higher?  it sounds deadly.

Surely an emufest entry too?!

This is excellent, James. Superb performance and the overall feel is just perfect. I'm really digging this. That's one catchy chorus!

Been a fan of Robyn since the Soft Boys days, although not familiar with this one.  Nice cover.  You seem to get those mixes to sound effortless.  I'm really struggling to get my current project sounding as I want it.

I really like the lyrics. It's the kind of song I wish I could write--and I don't necessarily feel that way about many RH songs.

I'm not familiar with the original. I haven't watched the YouTube video a couple comments back. I'm not sure if I want to, I'm liking this version so much.

I love this! Don't know the original, you did a great version here Jim. Love the stripped down stuff you are doing with the Juno, it really gives space to your vox which are superb here. Great stuff!

Cheers,

Nigel
